Forty-six choirs, six nations, and the largest massed hymn in the festival's history.
The 11th Edition at Mombasa Memorial Cathedral drew forty-six choirs from six nations under the theme “King of Glory”.
The standard of the Set Hymn class was the highest the panel had heard. Several adjudicators remarked that the gap between the cathedral choirs and the parish choirs has narrowed to almost nothing — a direct result, we think, of eleven years of written adjudication being taken home and worked on.
The weakest area remains diction in the psalm classes. Anglican chant demands that the words carry; too many choirs sang beautiful vowels and lost the text entirely.
